Understanding what your investment allows CCC to do for NYC children:
440,000 children live in poverty and 60% of them are Black or Latinx.
A gift of $15,000 or more could help us draw public attention to the heightened disparities and risks now facing our city along with our comprehensive work advancing budget, policy and legislation that confronts and breaks down systemic barriers to child well-being and pandemic recovery.
250,000 children under age five are eligible for childcare subsidies; yet public funding reaches fewer than 25 percent of them.
A gift of $10,000 or more could address the unprecedented role public child care will play in COVID-19 and economic recovery, ranging from increased demand and limited capacity, to the critical role child care centers will have in addressing COVID related trauma, behavioral health, and early intervention services.
22,000 children will sleep in a homeless shelter tonight and the average length of stay for families in shelter is 446 days. 95% of families in shelters are headed by Black or Latina women.
A gift of $7,500 or more could allow us to further the policy and budget recommendations that increase permanent connections to affordable housing and decrease entrance into the shelter system.
Nearly 50% of children and adolescents with a diagnosed behavioral health need go without clinical care.
A gift of $5,000 or more could help advance recommendations to improve access to high quality health and behavioral health care, especially for Black and Latinx children who are disproportionately suffering from depression and anxiety.
Youth are leading the way on civic engagement which is critical to community wellbeing and economic development.
A gift of $3,500 or more could sponsor a student in our highly regarded Youth Action programs where high school students examine pressing social issues, develop solutions to community problems, and meet with elected and appointed government officials to present recommendations for change.
More than 150,000 children under 18 live in households without internet access or a cellular data plan.
A gift of $1,500 or more could further our work to ensure that all children have the technology and in-school instruction needed to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. This is more critical than ever as children face significant educational disparities and learning loss resulting from barriers to distance learning.
90,000 children are involved in investigations of abuse or neglect annually, disproportionately impacting Black and Latinx children whose caregivers struggle to meet basic needs for food, clothing, housing, education or medical care.
A gift of $750 or more could help us expand policy and budgetary recommendations to prevent abuse and neglect across communities ensuring that families are strong, stable, and intact and children are safe.
